Srinagar, Aug 28 (KNO): Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with warmth and enthusiasm by the 54th Battalion of the CRPF at Nishat in Srinagar, where SKUAST students and locals tied rakhis to CRPF personnel, highlighting the bond of love, harmony and brotherhood.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the festival of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with great enthusiasm and warmth by the 54th Battalion of the CRPF at Nishat, Srinagar.
He said to mark the auspicious occasion, a grand community feast (Bhandara) was also organized at Gupt Ganga, bringing together CRPF personnel, students, dignitaries, and local residents.
“The event was attended by Commandant Shri Jagdev Singh Yadav, Deputy Commandants, Yogendra Kumar Mishra and Anil Thakur, along with officers and personnel of the 54th Battalion,” said the spokesperson.
He said professors Dr. Amit Kumar and Dr. Rohtash Dhankad from SKUAST University, along with university students, also participated in the celebrations. Jaya Iyer, representing the Vakil Colony orphanage, was also present, along with Sushant Singh, Harikrishna and Vinod Raina from Ishwar Ashram and Indira Colony, as well as a large number of local residents.
“On the occasion, Jaya Iyer and female students from SKUAST University tied Rakhis on the wrists of the Commandant and CRPF jawans, praying for their good health, happiness and long life. The gesture beautifully highlighted the sacred bond of love, trust and protection between brothers and sisters,” said the spokesperson.
He said speaking on the occasion, Commandant Jagdev Singh Yadav extended his warm wishes to everyone and said that Raksha Bandhan represents not only the beautiful bond between a brother and sister but also the values of mutual love, harmony, unity and brotherhood.—(KNO)
